Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat is GreenDIY.ie?Green DIY is short for Green Do-It-Yourself, referring to environmentally friendly, do-it-yourself home remodelling projects. GreenDIY.ie aims to provide comprehensive information on how to make your home or apartment as environmentally friendly as possible through both big and small projects. Green DIY can be updated by registered users so as green building materials become more available in Ireland, Irish Green DIY enthusiasts can post up to date instructions on how to source new materials and undertake new Green DIY projects. What do Ben&Jerry have to do with it?Green DIY Ireland was created in association with Ben & Jerry's Climate Change College. The Climate Change College selects one Ambassador from eight European countries each year to take part in a business mentoring program in order to promote grass roots action on climate change. Green DIY was created as part of the 2008 campaign for Ireland by the Irish Climate Change College Ambassador, Dr. Cara Augustenborg. How do I use the site?GreenDIY.ie is a Wiki, which in not-so-tech terms means it's a web site where anybody can put what they want on the site. We've given it a big head start by putting up some of our own ideas and content, but we want you to contribute your own projects, discuss projects, and show us examples of how you've used other people's ideas. We're all about sharing, and we want you to be, too. To get around, you'll likely use the main links on the sidebar on the left. Within each section are subsections. You can also use the house to navigate to the major sections. Just mouse over a section and select the appropriate sub-section. You'll also find the search feature in the top right of the site pretty handy for finding things. We hope using this wiki will be easy for you (but if it's not, let us know by sending a note through our contact page). How can I contribute my own projects?Great! That's the whole point! You can participate anonymously to the discussion on any page, but to combat malicious use, we do ask that you register before you can edit pages or create new ones. Don't worry, though; registration is free, and we promise not to sell you out to other companies or do anything malicious with your email address. Once you register and log in, you can edit content and create pages within the projects section of the wiki, so you can contribute to your heart's content. Every edit is saved, too, so you don't need to worry about somebody deleting everything you just created. There's a whole lot more information in the editing page for you to get a better idea of what you can do with GreenDIY.ie. I'm having a problem using the web site. How do I contact someone?Through our contact page! You could also send an email to us at info@TAKETHISPARTOUTgreendiy.ie. (Don't use that email address verbatim. We just cloaked it a little so that we wouldn't get spammed. |
